The green band on the rev counter indicates the optimal, most economical engine speed range. For fuel-efficient driving, gears should be changed so that the rev counter needle remains within this band for most of the time. A drop in revs below this range after changing up a gear causes the engine to operate inefficiently and leads to increased fuel consumption.
