Leaving the engine running during a stop, as visible in the picture, causes unnecessary exhaust emissions and environmental pollution. In accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Act, a driver is prohibited from leaving the engine running during a stop in a built-up area. Switching off the engine is therefore not only environmentally friendly behaviour but also an obligation under the regulations.
