Should you be more alert when you're driving at night?

In accordance with the general principle of caution set out in art. 3 para. 1 of the Road Traffic Act, driving at night requires increased attention from the driver. The main reason for this is the significantly limited visibility, which narrows the field of vision to the area illuminated by the vehicle's headlights. This makes it difficult to spot obstacles, unlit pedestrians or animals, and the lights of oncoming vehicles can also be dazzling.
