The theoretical driving exam is the first major stress for many. The database of questions is huge, and statistics show that up to half of the candidates fail on some questions! We analyzed thousands of answers from November 2025 to identify the real "killers". Here is a list of questions that cause the most difficulty.

Top 15 Hardest Questions (2025 Statistics)

1. Sign A-6b and One-Way Road (54.7% wrong answers)

Question: Does this sign warn you of approaching an intersection with a one-way minor road with the entry on the left?

This is the absolute record holder. Over half of the people answer incorrectly! Where's the catch? Sign A-6b warns of an intersection with a minor road occurring on the left side. But it says nothing about whether this road is one-way or two-way. Assuming that "since the inlet is only on one side, it might be one-way" is a mistake. Correct answer: NO.

2. ABS System Function (52.2% wrong answers)

Question: What is the function of the anti-lock braking system (ABS)?

Many drivers think that ABS is used to shorten the braking distance. This is a myth! On loose surfaces (sand, snow), ABS can even lengthen it. Where's the catch? The main task of ABS is to maintain vehicle steerability during hard braking. Because the wheels do not lock, you can turn the steering wheel and avoid an obstacle while still braking. Correct answer: It allows steering the vehicle during braking.

3. Mandatory Straight Ahead (51.4% wrong answers)

Question: Does this sign indicate that you are obliged to drive straight ahead at the nearest intersection?

Sign C-5 "mandatory straight ahead". It seems obvious, but the devil is in the details of the placement. Where's the catch? Sign C-5 applies at the nearest intersection (or at the intersection before which it was placed). It is often confused with the sign indicating a one-way road or misinterpreted if it stands after an intersection (then it applies up to the nearest intersection). In this specific question, the key is whether the sign stands BEFORE the intersection.

4. Overtaking on the Right (50.8% wrong answers)

Question: Is it permissible to overtake a motor vehicle from the right on this road outside a built-up area?

Overtaking on the right is a risky maneuver. Rule: Outside a built-up area, you are allowed to overtake on the right ONLY on a one-way roadway (min. 2 lanes) OR on a two-way roadway if it has marked traffic lanes and at least 3 lanes in one direction. Where's the catch? We often see 2 lanes in one direction and think "it's allowed". No! On a two-way road outside the city, 3 lanes are needed.

5. Quad Bike Physics (50.5% wrong answers)

Question: How will you counteract the centrifugal force while turning left in a quad bike?

Quad bikes behave differently than motorcycles and cars. They have a high center of gravity and are unstable. Where's the catch? On a motorcycle, you lean the motorcycle. In a car, you do nothing with your body. On a quad, you must shift your body weight to the inside of the turn. Turning left -> lean to the left. Many drivers don't know this.

6. Overtaking in Fog (49.5% wrong answers)

Question: Which of the following actions should be performed while driving a passenger car and overtaking in fog outside a built-up area?

Fog drastically limits visibility, and overtaking in such conditions is Russian roulette. Where's the catch? Regulations require giving short sound signals during overtaking in fog outside a built-up area. Many drivers are afraid to use the horn ("because it's impolite"), but in this situation, it is a legal obligation that saves lives.

7. Road Inlet Warning (49.2% wrong answers)

Question: Are you warned in this situation of a junction with the road on the right?

The question concerns sign A-6d "inlet of a one-way road from the right". Where's the catch? We often confuse this sign with a regular intersection. The key word is "one-way". This sign precisely specifies that the road joining is one-way (you cannot turn into it). If the question asks generally "about a road inlet", the answer is yes, but the devil is in the details of the sign graphics.

8. One-Way Road (49.0% wrong answers)

Question: In this situation, are you informed of travelling on a one-way road?

You see line P-1e (wide guiding line) at the intersection. Where's the catch? The guiding line itself does not make the road one-way. It often occurs at intersections with a central island or on two-way roads with multiple lanes. Without sign D-3 "one-way road", you cannot assume that it is so.

9. Towing and Speed (47.8% wrong answers)

Question: At what maximum speed are you allowed to drive on the road beyond this sign if you are towing another passenger car?

You see a sign increasing the speed (e.g., to 70 km/h in a built-up area) or you are outside a built-up area. Where's the catch? Towing has its rigid limits that "override" signs.

  • In a built-up area: 30 km/h
  • Outside a built-up area: 60 km/h Even if the sign allows 90 km/h, when towing you drive max 60 km/h.

10. "Stop" Sign Before Crossing (47.8% wrong answers)

Question: Do you always have to stop before you enter a railway crossing marked with this sign?

Sign B-20 "Stop" before tracks. Where's the catch? The word "always". Yes, the Stop sign requires an absolute stop. There are no exceptions like "nothing is coming" or "barriers are raised". The wheels must come to a standstill.

11. Speed Limit and Intersection (47.6% wrong answers)

Question: Does the speed limit you see here apply only to the nearest intersection?

Sign B-33 under sign E-17a (town name). Where's the catch? If the speed limit is placed under the board with the town name, it applies throughout the entire town, not just to the nearest intersection! This is a common mistake.

12. Special Caution at Night (47.1% wrong answers)

Question: Are you obliged to always exercise special caution while driving from dusk till dawn?

Sounds reasonable, right? It's dark at night, you have to be careful. Where's the catch? The definition of "special caution" in the code is precise. It applies in specific situations (intersection, pedestrian crossing, overtaking, changing lanes, driving in fog). Driving at night itself requires "ordinary" caution, not "special" in the sense of the act all the time.

13. Indicator When Changing Path (46.9% wrong answers)

Question: When slightly changing your path within the lane you are taking, are you obliged to signal this in advance with a direction indicator?

You are avoiding a hole in the road without leaving your lane. Where's the catch? We use the indicator when changing lanes or changing direction. If you are moving within the same lane, you do not use the indicator (unless you are avoiding an obstacle that forces a significant maneuver, but a "slight change of path" does not require this). Overzealousness is worse than negligence.

14. Only Special Caution? (46.1% wrong answers)

Question: In this situation, is it enough if you only exercise extreme caution?

Situation e.g., before a railway crossing or in a residence zone. Where's the catch? Often "special caution" is not enough. For example, before a railway crossing, you are obliged to ensure that no train is approaching. The word "only" is the key here. Maintaining caution is the basis, but additional actions are often required (slowing down, stopping, observation).

15. Rear Fog Lights (45.8% wrong answers)

Question: Are you permitted to use the rear fog lights if fog restricts visibility to a distance of 100 m?

The fog is thick, you can't see anything. Where's the catch? The regulation is clear: rear fog lights can ONLY be used when visibility drops below 50 meters. If you see for 100 meters, using them is prohibited because you blind drivers behind you. 50 meters is really "milk".

How to Learn to Pass?

  1. Don't memorize answers A, B, C. The database changes, photos may be different. Understand the principle.
  2. Analyze mistakes. If you make a mistake in the test, don't click "next". Read the explanation, open the code.
  3. Watch out for keywords. "Forbidden", "Allowed", "Always", "Never". These words often change the meaning of the question.

Summary

These 15 questions defeated thousands of students. You already know the answer to them. Good luck on the exam!
