What behaviour increases the risk of skidding on icy road surfaces?

On the visible icy and snowy roadway, tire grip is drastically reduced, as evident from the winter conditions. In such a situation, turning the steering wheel sharply can lead to an immediate loss of control over the vehicle and skidding, as the forces acting on the wheels will exceed the grip limit. According to Art. 19 para. 1 of the Road Traffic Act, the driver is obliged to drive at a speed ensuring control over the vehicle, which in practice means performing all maneuvers smoothly and gently.
