Can riding a motorcycle on road markings be dangerous?

Yes, road markings, such as the pedestrian crossing visible in the picture, are painted with paint which provides significantly less grip than the road surface. For a motorcyclist, whose vehicle has only two points of contact with the ground, a sudden change in grip can easily lead to a skid and a fall. This risk increases during rainfall, but also occurs on a dry surface, especially during braking or sudden manoeuvres.
