What does it indicate when the engine lubrication control light comes on?

The red warning light with an oil can symbol, shown in the picture, is the oil pressure indicator. Its illumination while the engine is running indicates that the pressure in the lubrication system is too low, which is a critical fault. The vehicle must then be stopped immediately and the engine switched off to prevent it from seizing.
