Are you allowed to increase speed while being overtaken by another vehicle?

The driver of a vehicle being overtaken is prohibited from increasing speed. Such behaviour critically increases the time and distance required to perform the manoeuvre, which creates a serious hazard in road traffic. Furthermore, if necessary, the driver of the vehicle being overtaken should reduce speed to facilitate the safe completion of the manoeuvre.
