Does the first sign you see here tell you to drive with a speed of up to 50 km/h?

The green E-17a sign visible on the right only indicates the name of the locality you are entering, but it does not mean the beginning of a built-up area. According to § 66 para. 1 of the regulation, this sign does not automatically introduce a speed limit of 50 km/h, which applies in a built-up area marked with a D-42 sign. In this situation, the general speed limits specified in Art. 20 for roads outside built-up areas still apply.
