On this road, once you go past this sign, are you obliged to give the right of way to the pedestrian walking in the middle of the road?

The D-40 "Residential zone" sign introduces special traffic rules where pedestrians have priority over vehicles across the entire width of the road. For this reason, you are obliged to give way to a pedestrian, even if they are walking in the middle of the roadway. According to Art. 11 para. 5 of the Road Traffic Act, a speed limit of 20 km/h also applies in this zone.
