What may be the effect of too low oil level in the combustion engine?

The primary function of engine oil is to create a protective film that lubricates and cools the moving parts of the engine. An oil level that is too low causes insufficient lubrication, which leads to direct metal-on-metal friction. Consequently, this results in a rapid increase in temperature and permanent damage, i.e., seizure, of key components such as the crankshaft, bearings, and pistons.
