What may be the effect of too low level of the cooling liquid in the combustion engine?

Coolant is responsible for removing excess heat from a running internal combustion engine. An excessively low level of this fluid, below the "MIN" mark on the expansion tank, prevents effective cooling. Consequently, this leads to the engine overheating, i.e., a dangerous increase in its temperature.
